Group Sessions with Substances

The Institute for Substance-Assisted Therapy offers group sessions. These include one or, if necessary, several preliminary talks, preparation, a substance use session in a group of up to 12 people, and follow-up. Group sessions usually take place over a weekend. However, there are also settings with multiple substance use sessions, which then last longer. Depending on the depth and intensity of the substance use experience, follow-up support may be necessary, which the institute also offers.

Participation is particularly suitable if someone is in ongoing therapy and follow-up work can take place during the ongoing therapy. In some cases, an individual session can then be delegated by the therapist.

The group setting means that each individual does not have the therapist’s full attention all the time; however, the group can also energetically provide support during difficult times. And for significant experiences, it can be important to have witnesses to what was experienced.
